Hi, I'm Charlotte, a full-time stained glass and multimedia artist living in Bristol in the UK. Making is in my bones. I guess it was inevitable that I would become a maker when you have a Boat Builder as a Dad and a Mum who was also a serial crafter. My journey began at Art College, firstly a Foundation Course then a Fine Art Degree where I specialised in Sculpture. Since then I have always made and sold in various capacities.

My passions are my synchronised swimming group who are a huge part of my inspiration and my local community sauna where I work at weekends. I am group leader for the North Bristol Arts Trail and have recently started a glass group called South West Glass Artists. I am also a mediator for my Mentor, Derek Hunts  popular Live You Tube sessions. which educates, informs and supports our wonderful glass community. 

I created Leadlight Studio several years ago after taking a short course in Stained Glass. I now make bespoke art pieces inspired by my love of the sea, swimming, art deco and the outdoors. in both traditional lead and copper foil and occasionally fused glass. I love to include hand painted detailed elements which are fired in my pink kiln who goes by the name of Barbie.

I enjoy the sense of clarity and tranquility swimming brings to my life. The feeling I get from being calmly immersed in water is what I would like to portray in my work. I am drawn to the beautiful medium of glass and love that this coloured light creates reflections and shadows similar to the fluidity of water. I have a passion for medieval stained glass and can often be found in cathedrals and churches seeking inspiration and sketching out patterns.

I love nothing more than knowing my work is appreciated as much as I enjoy the process of making it.
